About Me

Legal Name

Lauren Wilcox-Patterson

Research

I am a PhD candidate in the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Group at Columbia University, advised by Professor Steven Feiner.  My research interests lie in the intersection of human-computer interaction, computer science, and medical informatics, with an emphasis on new models and techniques for interacting with clinical and health-related information. As my research is interdisciplinary, I am also actively involved in projects in the Columbia University Department of Biomedical Informatics

Background

I received my BS in Computer Science in 2004 and my MS in Computer Science in 2006, both from Columbia University. Before beginning the PhD program, I worked full time at IBM designing, implementing, and presenting end-to-end solution prototypes focused on customer scenarios in the Solutions Experience Lab (SEL) in the Software Group (SWG) Technical Sales organization in Austin, Texas.  The SEL solutions were presented to executives visiting IBM for software briefings.
